Medical Camp on Cervical & Breast Cancer

Vizag Alpha RT305 came forward to conduct Breast & Cancer medical tests and awareness program with the help of Mahila Vikas Tharangi, Vizianagaram & Dr. Leela MD Oncologist from Tata memorial cancer hospital. We did a survey for nearly 400 women in Muslim Thatichatapalem and planned to 2 medical camps to cover all the women.

Tr. Sarath Nalla, Tr. Sumit & Tr. Ajay Vizag Alpha RT Community service conveners identified that slum people needs awareness on Cervical cancer as these women are shy to come forward for these tests. As per our survey, they are many women suffering for cervical related diseases. We are planning to conduct these medical camps every month and cover all possible slum areas. Every year 122844 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in India and 67477 die from the disease. All women between age 15-50 can undergo these test ( PAP, VIA, VILI)

We give necessary medicine for the needy and follow-up the test if we find any positive result and make sure they get free treatment at Tata memorial hospital. We take all the necessary equipment ( colposcope, screening machine etc, necessary medicines) with the help of Mahila Arogya Vikas.

India is likely to have over 17.3 lakh new cases of cancer and over 8.8 lakh deaths due to the disease by 2020 with cancers of breast, lung and cervix topping the list. Breast Cancer is first common cancer and 2nd is cervical.

The new Round Table ‘Vizag Alpha’ put a step forward to our bit to control cancer.

Per Awareness Seminar

Before every medical camp, we conduct a pre-awareness program. In this, we tell them about cervical & breast cancer, how they will affect them, the importance of these tests, problems they will face in future and how much time/money they will save by attending the medical camp.
